During this challenging season, Generosity Tyler has missed being with our community. We have taken advantage of the unexpected time to build out our website, we have tried to keep in touch by sharing engaging content, we have offered virtual continuing education opportunities for advisors to help you learn and grow and we have provided access to virtual generosity gatherings
Just a few weeks ago, we were able to, responsibly and safely, host a small gathering of our initial Generosity Tyler champions and were joined by Patrick Johnson, Generous Church. Patrick and the Generous Church team have been partners of Generosity Tyler and attended our Generosity Tyler Refreshed event back in February.
When we gathered together, Patrick shared a hopeful message of generosity with those that attended. Patrick encouraged us in our own individual generosity journeys. He reminded us that generosity begins with Christ, making us more like Jesus, which leads to joy and freedom for the giver. We were reminded that Christ gave His only Son because He loves us and he sets the best example of how we should sacrificially give. In this difficult time of feeling more isolated due to COVID, Patrick pointed out how we need community to live out the gospel and how this allows us to spur one another on to good deeds. One thing we have seen in our community, and that Patrick has seen globally, is that Christ-followers have been stirred to be more generous in this time of crisis. And we are not just talking about financial generosity. For many around the world, generosity is less about money and more about whole-life generosity, sharing the gifts God has given us with others that are in need – gifts like hospitality and compassion. Whole-life generosity is about loving God and loving our neighbor well – about seeing needs and finding ways to meet those needs.
As the pandemic continues, how can we as believers live out whole-life generosity? In what ways has God gifted you to serve the needs of others? How are you using those gifts to show the love of Christ?
Until we can be together again, I encourage you to explore the idea of whole-life generosity and consider how you can impact His Kingdom and bring glory to Him through a radically generous life.
For His Glory,
Carrie-Ann Jasper-Yearty
